Uses for Beer Beyond Drinking It
Uses for Beer Beyond Drinking It
After a hard day worth of work, it’s nice to come home to a cold beer and kick back either in the recliner or on the patio furniture outside. Whatever your regime is, I know you like to enjoy a beer on hot days or after long days when you get a chance to relax. But, having beer around the house can be more beneficial than you might think.
Wood Furniture
Beer can work on revitalizing the wood furniture around your home. It’s not common that a beer enthusiast would have flat beer in the house. But, letting a beer go flat in the name of good looking furniture wouldn’t be the greatest evil we can imagine.
Pour some flat beer on a soft rag and wipe it into the furniture thoroughly. It will bring out the shine in the wood. Plus, you’ll be giving your furniture the same drink you enjoy regularly. Your furniture will love you for it.
Tough Meat
If you have tough meat and you’re getting ready to have some company over for a little grilling party in your yard, tenderizing your meat is easier with beer. Pour some beer on the meat and let it sit for a few hours. Not only will your meat get tenderized, but the beer will add some taste to it.
Your friends and family will ask you for your recipe. But, you don’t have to give it to them. You are allowed to keep secrets to yourself, especially when those secrets might bring scrutiny from other cooks who don’t have any clue how great beer can be for cooking.
Grow Plants
I had never thought about this until I watched my grandmother pouring a beer into her plants. I asked her what she was doing and she told me that it was good for the plants. I wasn’t sure if she had any scientific research to go along with her conclusion, so I decided to look into it.
The yeast in beer is actually very good for the plants. If you pour beer in your garden, you will have healthy plants because of the yeast rich soil. That’s something I’ll never wrap my brain completely around. But if beer is good for me, it has to be good for the plants. I just don’t give them too much. If my plants want more beer, they can go get jobs.
Beer was made to drink. There’s no arguing against that. But, everything eventually develops another purpose. I love it when they develop other good purposes. Beer has other good purposes. So, always have beer in your house. It will never go to waste.
