![]() The Pinnacles, in Nambung National Park, are one of those eerie, spectacular places in Australia which everyone should see at least once. There are amazing limestone structures which jut out of the desert. The park estimates that there are about 150 000 of these structures, some of which are 5 meters tall. There is a variation in colour due to the different soil types and it looks incredibly against the background of sand dunes. The best time to visit the Pinnacles is between August and October because that is when all the wildflowers are in bloom. Also, try to be there at dawn or dusk to see the dramatic shadows that create patterns over the sand. There is no camping at the Pinnacles. Many people make this a day trip from Perth (245 km away). However, I’d recommend staying in the nearby town of Cervantes. You will need several hours to really visit Nambung National Park and it is too much for a day trip and a long drive afterwards. Make sure you bring at least a litre of water per person. Australia
