The American Book Store

Brisbane

Recommended by : valu4money

Despite its name, the American Book Store is 100% Queensland owned and operated, having started from humble beginnings in 1957 by an American living in Brisbane. Purchased by the current family operators in 1959 it stocks over 40,000 titles and features a café in the heart of the store – Café Libri. This is a great place to relax and browse for hours, or enjoy a cup of coffee and meet with friends. It’s also an ideal study group location. The website goes into detail about the history of the store and its’ current staff even get a mug shot on the site. It’s a fantastic independent book shop in a world of chain stores, located in a convenient city location. One of my favorites during the trip was The Northern Club. A local recommended the place to me and for a good reason. The atmosphere of the restaurant is classy and sophisticated but not snobbish.
The Sydney Dancing School
The specialty of the Sydney Dancing School is to offer wedding dance tuition. With more than a quarter of century of experience the teacher, Terry Fitzgerald, helps the bridal couples to learn their wedding dance before the final day.
