Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

Fig Tree Pocket Australia

Who can deny the cute factor of a little koala? Not many and that is why they visit the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Opened in 1927 this is the world’s first and largest Koala sanctuary in existence – verified by the Guinness Book of Records. There are 130 koalas to hug at any time of the day. Obviously a big hit with international visitors, it isn’t really something Australians get the opportunity to experience either, and for that it’s worth a visit even if it’s just up the road. But it is not just koalas. There are also Emus and Kangaroos that can be hand fed and a number of native animals live in the Sanctuary too. There are BBQ and picnic facilities available and they are open all year round. Open Times: Open seven days from 8.30 – 5.00
