Jervis Bay - NSW

Sydney Australia

Recommended by : TravelGuru

Jervis Bay is the perfect getaway, even if it is just for the weekend or holiday. The best thing about the bay is that it is only 3 hours from Sydney but feels like it is worlds away.

Even though Jervis Bay is a popular tourist retreat for Australians, you can still find secluded beaches and cheap accommodation.

You can go camping in the national park or stay at a luxury beach house. That is because Jervis Bay is actually a huge area with many beaches, each with its own amenities and style.

Green Patch Beach is one of the most beautiful with white sand and turquoise water. It is also the cleanest beach in Australia. The actual Bay is about 15km long and 10km wide with a depth of 27 meters.

The waters house diverse life as well as the coastal scrub, dunes, mangroves, and wildflowers in the surrounding.

There is also an Aboriginal presence here going back possibly 11 000 years.

You can see many rock shelters indicating their presence here. Even some of the eucalypt trees have marks from where the bark was stripped and used for shelter and canoe making.
