Cliffords Honey Farm - Kangaroo Island

Clifford’s Honey Farm In 1885, Kangaroo Island was declared a sanctuary for the special docile Ligurian bee.

This may not be the most interesting thing about Kangaroo Island but you should still check out a honey farm while there. Clifford’s Honey Farm is the most popular honey farm for tourists to visit in KI.

It is a family run business which started out as a hobby for two wool farmers, Dave and Jenny Clifford. The price of wool dropped in the 1980s so they decided to expand their honey farm. In 1993, they opened up the honey shop. It is pretty amazing that this family harvests almost 20 tons of honey every year.

Three sons in laws have also joined into the business. When you arrive at the store, you can go into a backroom where there is a “tour.” It is actually just a bee hive and some pictures. The cost is only $2 though and kids are free, so you might as well check it out. The real reason you are coming to Clifford’s Honey Farm is to buy lots of presents and goodies for yourself.

They have this great sparkling drink called Fresco, honey ice cream, and lots of treats like chocolate covered honeycomb. The cosmetics they have are reasonably priced and very high quality. I recommend the honey moisturizer or a lip balm.
