Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens are an oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle of city life. Located at Mt Coot-tha they are just seven kilometers from the city centre. Vehicle access is permitted on week days before 4pm and most areas have disabled access. The administration building has a mobility map. There are guided walks available for a tour of the garden attractions or self-guided walks with maps are an alternate option. The gardens feature some unique flora experiences, such as Bonsai House and Cactus House. There is a children’s trail which is sure to delight smaller visitors with rainforest surroundings and many opportunities to see some wildlife in this area. They also feature a remembrance wall celebrating victory in WWII and 50 years of freedom. You can’t go past the Botanic Gardens as a free day out that will be enjoyed by everyone.
