Bay of Fires - Tasmania

Top 20 Travel Destinations: Bay of Fires is the area North of St. Helens in Tasmania. The 29 kilometer stretch of coastline has beautiful blue waters, white sands and bright orange lichen growing on the rocks.

You can access Bay of Fires from Bingalong Bay in the south, where the road dead-ends in an area called the garden. Many people get the full experience of the bay by going on a four day guided hike.

Less adventurous people can also enjoy Bay of Fires from camping grounds or the number of accommodation in the area.

Lonely Planet named Bay of Fires the “hottest” travel destination for 2009.

It is likely that crowds are soon going to flock to this natural retreat. Right now, it is still possible to enjoy the bay in relative peace and to find a solitary stretch of beach to enjoy.

There is great bird and dolphin watching, fishing, diving and swimming spots. Vacations don’t get much more relaxing than this.
