Agrodome - New Zealand

One of the most popular and rather cultish tourist places in Rotorua New Zealand is Agrodome.

This is a giant farm-turned-theme park with lots of different attractions.

There is a live sheep show that is world famous.

You can watch a rather amusing display of sheep getting herded by a dog while an announcer explains the various breeds and gives tons of information.

Don’t worry, the people at Agrodome know that you don’t want a schoolroom type lecture and do a good job making it interesting.

There are lots of other farm-related activities like sheep shearing or you can even milk a cow.

It is much more difficult than you’d imagine! Children will love the petting zoo filled with all sorts of farm animals.

This is a good way to introduce city kids to rural life and show them where their food comes from.

Even if you have no desire to participate in farm activities, you will love Agrodome.

The management has used the vast space to the maximum and incorporated adrenaline sports.

This is one of the few places where you can try the Zorb, Swoop, Shweeb, and tons of other sports all in one place.

For those of you who have been living in a bubble, the Zorb is a bubble! You climb into the giant sphere and roll down through an obstacle course.

It is loads of fun and was invented by New Zealanders. If you fall in love with Zorbing so much, you can visit the Zorb park, which is also in Rotorua.

There, you can try riding in a various bubbles or even having water splash you during the ride through the crazy obstacle course (More information at www.zorb.com).

New Zealand really is a haven for adventure sports which is why a trip to Agrodome is worth it.

Where else can you visit an organic farm and go bungee jumping at the same place?

Agrodome is located 9.5 km from the Rotorua city center.

If you don’t have a car, you can take the city shuttle there.

The shuttles arrive and depart every half hour.
